Welcome message

The Welcome Message for our FC students from the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Relations.

“Dear students, on behalf of our Rector I want to welcome you to the University of Pisa, with the expectation that this year of study will be a springboard for your university education and, in the future, your working career.

The University of Pisa, founded in 1343, is one of the oldest academic institutions in Europe and among the most prestigious ones in Italy. During its long history, it counted among its students and professors many notable people such as Galileo Galilei, several Italian Prime ministers and Presidents of the Republic, three Nobel prize and two Fields Medal winners.

The University of Pisa is among the top 200 universities in the world for the Academic ranking of world universities (ARWU), with special mention for fields such as Mathematics, Physics & Astronomy, Library & Information Management, and Computer Science and Information Systems, for which we are also among the top 100 institutions worldwide for the QS ranking.

In addition to its wide offer of degree and PhD programs available, the University of Pisa pays a special attention to the internationalisation of learning, teaching and research, having many inter-institutional and bilateral agreements as well as 21 double degrees and 5 Double PhDs with institutions in other countries. Not to mention the Erasmus+ Program (now possible also outside Europe), which in the last 30 years has allowed thousands of our students to have an international mobility experience and as many international students to come to Pisa. Finally, in view of making our University increasingly open to the world, we offer 2 Bachelor and 14 Master degree programs in English, with the chance for all the students to apply for different kinds of grants and fee reductions.

The University of Pisa is this and much more, and we are very happy that all of you have chosen us as a starting point for your future. For our part, we will do our best to meet your expectations, understand your points of view and support you every day in every way, especially during this terrible period of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

I wish you all a great academic year!
