Pre-enrollment and Visa

If you are a non-EU student residing outside Italy and you have been accepted to the Foundation Course blended/ on campus option you must apply for a Study Visa type D in order to attend the program in Pisa.

The Visa procedure requires the following steps:

  1. Pre-enrolment application through the Universitaly portal
  2. Visa process with the Italian Embassy/ Consulate in your country of residence

The pre-enrolment application must be validated by the University of Pisa and the validation gives you the right to contact the Italian Embassy/ Consulate in order to apply for a Study Visa type D.

The steps to apply for a Study D Visa are the following ones:

  1. Go here
  2. Login
  3. Registrati
  4. Fill out the application form with your details
  5. Save
  6. Go to your email and click to “login”. Please remember your username and password which are given in the email you have received
  7. Put your username and password and click to “sign in”
  8. Choose a new password and then click on “submit”
  9. Click on “pre-enrollment application”
  10. Click on “New pre-enrollment application”
  11. Choose the academic year (2024-25) and  then click on “go step B”
  12. Upload the documents required, choose the Italian Embassy where you will request the Visa and in “Specify the reason for the visa application” put “I want to enrol in a study course”. Select as an institution “Universita” and as an institution name “Università di Pisa”
  13. As a course type select “Corso propedeutico (Foundation Course) and as a course name “Foundation Course”
  14. Leave “ID account at the chosen University / AFAM / Institute” empty
  15. Go to step C
  16. Fill the sections regarding your qualification
  17. Click on “Summary”
  18. Accept “I have read the data processing” and then click on “Apply for pre-enrolment” at the bottom of the page
  19. Wait for the university to validate your application or to ask you to upload further documents
  20. After the validation contact the Italian Embassy/ Consulate in your country to apply for the Study D Visa
  21. The Italian Embassy will contact you for an interview and to check your documents
  22. If the assessment by the Italian Embassy is positive you will receive a Study D Visa to come to Italy
