Classes in English – Humanities / Science / Single modules
Attendance is compulsory for at least 70% of the lessons. Each teacher manages attendance for their classes, keeping a register and deciding whether to admit a student to the final exam according to their number of absences.
The teacher’s decision is final.
Each credit is worth 8 hours of lessons, therefore please find for how long you may be absent based on the number of credits of your course:
3 credits (24 hours): 7 hours of absence
6 credits (48 hours): 14 hours of absence
9 credits (72 hours): 22 hours of absence
Students must attend courses in accordance with the mode chosen (online or in person), otherwise they will be considered absent by the teacher. Students choosing the in-person mode are allowed to attend classes online only if they have not obtained the Study Visa yet. Any other kind of justification will not be accepted. The students who received their Visa late must shift from the online to the in-person mode when they arrive in Pisa.
Italian language classes
Classes are organized in levels and have a duration of 60 hours each (50 hours of classroom teaching + 10 hours of online self-study on the Moodle platform with specially prepared teaching materials).
Attendance is compulsory.
To take the final test at the end of each course, students must have attended at least 70% of their classes and completed the online self-study activities on Moodle. Therefore, a maximum of 15 hours of absence is allowed out of a total of 50 hours. The self-study activities must be completed by the day that will be communicated by the Secretariat at the beginning of each course.
Students must attend courses in accordance with the mode chosen (online or in person) and cannot shift to a different mode. However, students choosing the in-person mode are allowed to attend the course online only if they have not obtained the Study Visa yet. When students waiting for the Visa start to attend a course online, they cannot immediately shift to another course when they arrive in Pisa. They will be able to attend in person starting from the course taking place in the following cycle.
No certificates will be awarded at the end of the courses. The results achieved will be reported to the Foundation Course coordinators and included in each student’s “Transcript of Records”.
Rules valid for both classes held in English and for Italian language courses
Students are required to attend all the lessons, for the entire time, and must come punctually to class, whether in person or online.
The 30% of allowed absences covers every kind of reason (health issues, force majeure, administrative and bureaucratic purposes and so on).
Online students must have their webcams on during the whole class. Students failing to do so will be considered absent.
Students arriving to class (both in person and online) more than 15 minutes late will be considered absent.
